Geneva: US Vice President JD Vance named the two favorite Indian and Pakistani individuals in his life on Sunday. He made these remarks while speaking to the media during ongoing US-Iran talks in Switzerland. JD Vance jokingly said, "I often say there are two very important people in my life—one Indian and one Pakistani. The Indian is my wife, Usha Vance, and the Pakistani is Field Marshal Asim Munir."
Regarding the talks, JD Vance stated that today they are discussing the technical aspects of an agreement; while this might not resolve every single difference, it has resulted in all parties sitting together as a team for the first time. He said, "This will help us understand the most critical issues for the various parties, how to resolve them, and how to move towards a better future."
Vance noted that the political leadership of the respective countries is present to outline the framework for technical discussions and to assure the negotiating teams that they have full political backing. He added, "We want our teams to know that they can reach out to us at any time to overcome any obstacles." The US Vice President acknowledged that significant work remains but noted that all parties are enthusiastic about the process, stating, "We have made considerable progress in the last few hours."
JD Vance stated that US President Donald Trump is committed to establishing a lasting ceasefire across the Middle East. He remarked, "Such ceasefires are always somewhat complex, but we have seen great progress over the past few days in ensuring that the ceasefire in Lebanon holds." Vance mentioned that Trump has authorized him to initiate a fresh start and seek diplomatic solutions, adding, "We now envision a future where all nations can work together to foster peace and prosperity."

• The US delegation entered well before the Iranians.
• Ghalibaf didn’t enter while the press was inside, Vance did .
• Iranian FM entered last & didn’t shake hands.

Vance also noted that while Iran has long been a major source of regional instability, efforts are now underway to transform the Middle East through diplomacy. He said, "The biggest question is whether we can permanently transform relations in the Middle East." Meanwhile, American and Iranian negotiators held a trilateral meeting with Qatari mediators. Before the talks began, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed key conditions. He stated that Iran has provided written assurances to the US that it will not build a nuclear bomb. At the same time, the US has agreed to release $6 billion in Iranian funds that had been frozen in Qatari banks.
