Washington DC: A New York court confirmed the conviction of Donald Trump in the hush money case while sentencing president-elect to an unconditional discharge. The former president has been convicted on 34 counts of falsification of business records concerning unaccounted payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels he will serve no time in jail nor be penalized. This comes just days ahead of the day when Trump would take the oath of office on January 20, in a historic instance of the first felon to inhabit the White House. The laws do allow for a discharge free only in some special cases. The circumstances under which Trump spent his second term in office impressed the court. The United States Constitution claims the position of presidency is exempt from any legal imposition against it by the term. A conditional dismissal being the only possible legal remedy now that would usher Trump to the office clarifies Judge Juan Merchan. This immunity will ensure that the ex-president is a convicted felon under this law who is liable for a prison term of four years if applied in its absence.Trumps judicial plea for escapingWith the sentence date drawing close, Trump used one last defense mechanism to soften the case further by claiming the whole case to be a politicized attempt on the eve of the election aimed at tarnishing his political credentials. He then framed the whole thing as a blemish to the New York court system. Although he had tried to stop all the criminal proceeding, the U.S. Supreme Court had resolved that it would continue and therefore witnessed this odd legal result today.Stormy Daniels and the Cover-Up of the 2016 ElectionIt was a case based on an attempt to silence Stormy Daniels, who accused being in an affair with Trump before the 2016 presidential election. The conviction was sealed because of a cover-up in the payments and because multiple witnesses were able to testify against him.
