Googles CEO Sundar Pichai (ANI)
New Delhi: The morning of the person running the world's largest tech company may surprise you. No expensive workout routines, no meditation apps, no green juices. Sundar Pichai's morning starts with a sip of tea and newspaper headlines. In an interview given to journalist Kara Swisher in 2016, he clearly said, 'I am not a morning person.' He usually wakes up between 6:30 and 7 am and likes to start the day slowly. He had told that he starts the morning without any hurry. He believes that there is no hurry in preparing the mind for work.
His first habit after waking up in the morning is to read the news. As soon as he gets out of bed, he scans the online edition of the New York Times. Pichai says that starting the day without knowing what is going on in the world is incomplete for him. This is an old and sure habit of his.
Pichai told that his breakfast is fixed. He is a vegetarian and hence takes special care of protein. In the same interview, he told that his breakfast remains almost the same every day, omelette, toast and tea. No fancy superfoods, no calorie counting, just a sure and reliable start.
Pichai himself has said that tea is not just a drink for him but a memory of his Indian upbringing. Childhood spent in Chennai, morning at home, tea made by mother, this habit was not left even after reaching America. The day of a CEO who runs a billion dollar company still starts with the same tea.
Pichai had clearly said that exercising in the morning is not a part of his daily routine. If we have time and inclination, we work out in the evening, but there is no strict rule on this.
In a separate conversation, he had said Dosa in Bengaluru, Chole Bhature in Delhi and Pav Bhaji in Mumbai. That means they have some food connection with every city in India. Google may be headquartered in Mountain View, Pichai's heart still resides somewhere on that Indian platter.
Simple morning, fixed breakfast, a cup of tea and the owner of the world's largest search engine sets out for work.
