Amit Shah Named BJP Observer for West Bengal, JP Nadda Assigned to Assam After Poll Wins (X)
New Delhi: After the big victory in West Bengal and Assam assembly elections, BJP has accelerated the process of government formation. The party has announced central observers for both states, paving the way for the selection of the Chief Minister. Home Minister Amit Shah has been given this responsibility for West Bengal, while Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will be his co-observer. In Assam, this role will be played by JP Nadda and Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will be with him.
After these appointments, the most important step now is the selection of the leader of the legislative party. Generally this process decides who will be the next chief minister of the state. Observers talk to the MLAs and reach a consensus on the final name.
According to party sources, preparations are on for swearing in on May 9 in West Bengal. In such a situation, the name of the chief minister can be announced in the next few days and the formation of the government will be formally completed.
This time in the elections, BJP achieved a clear majority by winning 207 seats. This result is also considered big because Trinamool Congress has been dominant in the state for a long time. TMC was reduced to 80 seats, due to which the political equations completely changed.
The contest held in Bhawanipur was in the most headlines, where Suvendu Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee. This victory, achieved by a margin of about 15 thousand votes, is being considered a big turning point of the elections.
BJP continued its strong performance in Assam and was again in a position to form the government by winning 82 seats. The opposition appeared scattered, making the contest one-sided.
The results of these two states show that BJP is now strengthening its hold in new areas also. Especially in Eastern India, this demonstration is being considered a big political signal for the party.
