Andhra Pradesh News: In Tirupati district, the ISKCON temple recently came under a security alert after receiving a chilling bomb threat via email. According to authorities, the email, sent on October 27, claimed that terrorists linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) were plotting to attack the sacred temple. Responding promptly, a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and a dog squad arrived at the scene to conduct an extensive search. However, after a thorough inspection, no explosives or suspicious items were found within the temple premises.

Police launch investigation following temple threat

The local police have since launched an investigation into the origins of the email and any connections to terror outfits. Officials are focusing on analyzing the email content and tracing its source as they work to ensure the safety of the ISKCON temple and its devotees. “Pakistan’s ISI-related terrorists would blow up the temple,” the email stated, according to police sources, adding a new level of concern for authorities.

Prior bomb threats at Tirupati hotels proved to be hoaxes

Just a day earlier, on October 26, two major hotels in Tirupati also received bomb threats. Upon investigation, these threats were declared hoaxes, as no explosives were discovered during searches by BDS and sniffer dogs. This wave of bomb threats is also linked to recent arrests in a drug trafficking case in Tamil Nadu. Authorities report that the email referred to Jaffer Sadiq, a prime suspect in a narcotics ring, who was detained by the Narcotics Control Bureau and Enforcement Directorate. The threat email ambiguously claimed a connection between Tamil Nadu’s top police officials and ISI, allegedly aimed to “divert attention from Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi,” wife of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Repeated threats add pressure on local security

This recent spate of threats, including additional hoaxes at three Tirupati hotels, has heightened security protocols across the district, ensuring the safety of both locals and pilgrims. Security forces remain vigilant, closely monitoring the area to safeguard against any potential risks.
