Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann once again showed his connection with everyday people. On Thursday, he reached Kurali Bus Stand without heavy security or protocol and spent a full 1 hour and 15 minutes there. He stood among passengers like any other commuter.
Mann walked through the bus stand and inspected PRTC buses one by one. He checked cleanliness, seats, and basic facilities. He also interacted with drivers and conductors and heard their issues patiently.
The Chief Minister spoke directly to commuters waiting for buses. He asked if buses arrived on time and whether they faced any problems during travel. Passengers shared their experiences freely. Many took out their phones to capture selfies with the CM.
Standing right there, Mann called the district DC and discussed the bus stand’s condition, cleanliness, and facilities. He gave instructions on the phone itself. People nearby felt confident their concerns would be taken seriously.
This was the first time in recent political memory that a Chief Minister spent over an hour at a bus stand without formalities or a convoy. Usually leaders stop briefly for a photo-op and leave. Mann broke that pattern.
People at the bus stand praised the CM’s approach. An elderly man said he had never seen any leader stay this long at a bus stand. A woman commuter said she now expects bus services to improve further.
The visit sent a clear message that the government wants to understand issues where they exist. Mann’s unexpected hour at Kurali Bus Stand showed a style of governance rooted in direct public interaction.
