BJP unveils star campaigners for Delhi assembly elections

Ahead of the crucial Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday released a comprehensive list of star campaigners poised to bolster its campaign. The list features the party's top brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, underscoring the significance of the electoral battle in the national capital.

Prominent names to spearhead campaign

The star campaigners' lineup also includes prominent Union Ministers such as Piyush Goyal, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Hardeep Singh Puri. Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states—Yogi Adityanath, Devendra Fadnavis, Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Pushkar Singh Dhami—are set to join the campaign trail, signaling a concerted push by the party to secure victory.

Other notable leaders like Smriti Irani, Anurag Thakur, Hans Raj Hans, Manoj Tiwari, and actor-turned-politicians Hema Malini, Ravi Kishan, and Dinesh Lal Yadav (Nirahua) also feature prominently in the campaign team. The BJP’s focus appears to be on leveraging a mix of experienced politicians and popular personalities to connect with a wide range of voters.

AAP and Congress prepare for battle

As the BJP intensifies its campaign, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress are also gearing up for a fierce triangular contest. AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed his nomination from the New Delhi constituency, facing stiff competition from BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit.

Kejriwal, emphasizing the unfinished work in the capital, remarked, “A lot of work is still left to be done in Delhi.” Meanwhile, AAP has finalized candidates for all 70 assembly seats, while BJP has announced names for 59 constituencies.

Election timeline

Delhi will go to polls on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. As the battle for Delhi heats up, all eyes are on the strategies and outcomes of this high-stakes political contest.
