High Alert in Delhi Amid Indo-Pak Conflict: Extra Forces Deployed, Leaves Scrapped
Delhi has been placed on high alert as India-Pakistan tensions soar following Operation Sindoor and Pakistan’s retaliatory attacks on May 7-8, 2025. The government has cancelled leaves for all essential employees and deployed additional security forces to fortify the capital, ensuring readiness amid the volatile situation along the Line of Control (LoC).
Escalating Regional Tensions
Operation Sindoor, India’s missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan, triggered Pakistan’s failed missile and drone assaults on 15 Indian cities, alongside heavy shelling in Kupwara. Fearing potential spillover, Delhi’s administration has heightened security protocols. The city, a key political and economic hub, is under tight surveillance to prevent any disruptions, with the government prioritizing public safety in light of Pakistan’s aggressive posturing.
Reinforced Security Measures
Additional contingents of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Delhi Police have been deployed across strategic locations, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi Railway Station, and government complexes. Checkpoints have multiplied, and intelligence agencies are monitoring for suspicious activities. Drones and CCTV networks are aiding real-time surveillance, while bomb disposal squads remain on standby to address any threats.
Government Employees Mobilized
To ensure seamless governance, leave for all government employees, including police, medical staff, and administrative personnel, has been cancelled as of May 8. This move guarantees full staffing for emergency response and public services.
