National News: A grand honour ceremony was organised by the Sanskrit Sanskriti Sanvardhan Sansthan in Delhi. This ceremony was held in recognition of CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) Sub-Inspector and mountaineer Geeta Samota. Geeta Samota is the first female officer of the CISF to have climbed Mount Everest.

Climbed the Highest Peaks of Five Continents

Geeta Samota has achieved a remarkable feat by climbing the highest mountain peaks on five of the seven continents. She hoisted the tricolour on prominent peaks such as Mount Kosciuszko (Australia), Mount Elbrus (Russia), Mount Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), and Mount Aconcagua (Argentina) — all within just 6 months and 27 days. Due to this rapid progress, she is recognised as the fastest-progressing woman mountaineer in the Seven Summits Expedition.

Honours Received from the President and Ministries

Geeta has received a letter of appreciation from the President of India for her historic ascent of Mount Everest. In addition, the Delhi Commission for Women honoured her on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023. The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, also felicitated her with the ‘Giving Wings to Women Award 2023’.

In recognition of these outstanding achievements, a special programme was held at the Delhi office of the institute, where Geeta Samota was honoured with garlands and citations. On this occasion, many dignitaries were present, including Institute Coordinator Pandit Madan Mohan Shastri, Girish Chandra Thapliyal, Dhanveer Singh Malik, Surya Kumar Jha, Ajay Kumar Mishra, Yogesh Chandra Sugandh, Chandrakant Sharma, and Ashish Sharma. During the programme, everyone appreciated Geeta Samota’s dedication, courage, and extraordinary service to the nation.
