National News: A fresh controversy erupted in Gorakhpur when locals spotted a provocative green poster pasted on the wall of a mosque. Written in bold letters were the words “I Love Mohammed” followed by inflammatory lines. The moment worshippers gathered for morning prayers, some youths noticed the poster and raised alarm. Videos were quickly made and circulated online, causing a wave of panic. Soon after, the incident spread across the city, raising fears of communal unrest. The discovery has once again placed Gorakhpur under the spotlight for sensitive religious flare-ups.
The controversial poster was found in Chhote Qazipur under the Kotwali police station area. Police, led by senior officers, arrived swiftly, removed the poster, and seized it as evidence. A formal case was registered against unknown individuals. Superintendent of Police Abhinav Tyagi assured that those behind this act will not escape punishment. Authorities confirmed that no effort would be spared to maintain peace. With security tightened in the area, officials pledged that provocative attempts like these would be dealt with strictly.
Residents described the scene as disturbing, especially as it was first seen by young men heading to the mosque. The green-colored poster had bold text, with aggressive lines written beneath. Locals said the poster was clearly intended to provoke religious sentiments. Many residents demanded strict action against the culprits, while some expressed fears of outsiders attempting to fuel communal disharmony. The mosque manager denied any knowledge about who placed it, leaving the matter in the hands of police investigators.
Following the removal of the poster, police teams began scanning CCTV cameras installed nearby. Officials confirmed that this act appeared to be carefully planned with the intention of spreading unrest. SP Tyagi stated that mischief-makers would face strict legal action. Security presence was intensified in sensitive zones, while intelligence units were ordered to closely monitor developments. Authorities appealed to the people to stay away from rumors, cooperate with officials, and let law take its course.
This was not the first such incident in Gorakhpur this week. Just two days earlier, in Chilluatal area, another provocative banner appeared above a shop in Nakha Number One locality. It carried threatening words, triggering alarm and drawing a crowd within minutes. Police immediately removed the banner and detained three youths for breach of peace. The back-to-back incidents have made officials suspect a coordinated effort to create tensions across the city, possibly to disrupt communal harmony.
Police and local administration urged citizens to remain calm and not react to provocative acts. They reminded people that maintaining unity was more important than falling into the trap of miscreants. Religious leaders also stepped in, requesting communities to stay composed. Many elders highlighted that such acts are designed to disturb law and order and must be handled with patience. The emphasis on peace was seen as crucial to prevent further escalation.
Experts believe these repeated poster and banner incidents may not be isolated, but part of a broader conspiracy. Authorities fear miscreants are testing reactions before staging larger disruptions. In response, the police have strengthened patrolling, surveillance, and intelligence gathering to avoid future occurrences. While fear lingers in the city, people are hopeful that culprits will soon be arrested. The recurring provocations have highlighted the urgent need for vigilance, unity, and a strong administrative hand to preserve Gorakhpur’s fragile peace.
