GST Council Meeting 2025: Big Relief for Common Man, These Items to Get Cheaper!

GST Council Meeting commenced on September 3 under the chairmanship of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today in New Delhi. If media reports are to be believed, important decisions can be taken in this meeting regarding GST Cut. Here is a list of items that are going to be zero tax. The meeting will be held till September 4. 

As per some media reports, important decisions can be taken during this meeting regarding GST Slab and GST Rate Cut. For the ease of readers, here we have shared a list of items on which tax can be reduced to zero, which means consumers will not have to pay any tax on these items.

Items on which Zero Tax likely to be imposed

As per media reports, there are as many as 47 items on which zero tax can be levied. You will not need to pay tax on these items. However, this has not been confirmed yet.

Zero tax can be imposed on items which are used on a daily basis.

If media reports are to be believed, there will be no tax on essential food items such as paneer, pizza bread, khakhra, chapati and roti or a 5% tax can be levied on them.

Similarly, there will be no tax on stationery, medical equipment and medicines or a 5% tax can be levied. On the other hand, GST can be increased on such items which are harmful.

Apart from this, taxes will be levied on items like petroleum, gold and diamonds as before. However, this has not been confirmed by the government.

How much tax to be imposed on what and what is going to be cheap?

According to media reports, there may be some changes in the GST tax slab like this-

99% of products under 12% tax slab will come under 5% category.

Items falling in the 28% tax slab will be included in the 18% tax slab. This way, the tax will be reduced by 10%.
