Hyderabad: On early Saturday morning today, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad received a scary email about the bomb threat. Airport staff quickly acted by rerouting an Indigo flight to a nearby airport for everyone's safety.
According to a Rajiv Gandhi International Airport official statement, 'A message arrived from the Airport Operations Control Center on November 1, 2025. It noted that the customer support team at the airport had gotten an email. The message came to the address customersupport@gmrgroup.in. It was sent by a person named Papita Rajan right at 5:25 a.m. The email's subject line read: "Halt the landing of Indigo flight 68 headed to Hyderabad."
The email described a dangerous plan in plain words. It claimed that agents linked to LTTE and ISI were set to carry out a huge explosion. This plot echoed the events at Madras Airport back in 1984. The blast would hit the plane's body and the fuel tank rigged with tiny robots at the RGIA site. The device, a type of improvised explosive known as an IED, would pack a punch with deadly nerve gas inside. The sender called it a trial run to check tactics from a past Frankfurt event. To reveal where the bomb was hidden, the email pointed to a secret code in an attached file. Readers were told to look for clues hidden between the lines in that steganographic paper.
Once the alert hit, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee jumped into action for everyone's safety. They held a quick online meeting with senior officials to review the situation on the ground. After careful checks, the group labelled it as a real and urgent danger. No chances were taken with passenger lives or airport safety.
The decision came fast to protect the plane and people on board. The committee ordered the flight to head to the nearest safe airport instead of landing as planned. Air traffic control passed the urgent news to the flight's captain without delay. He would then share updates on the new landing spot with ground staff at Hyderabad.
On top of the reroute, other measures kicked in right away. The captain confirmed all details for the alternate landing to the airport team. Meanwhile, the GMR security unit teamed up with local police to file an official report. This helped start a full probe into the email's source and any real risks. The whole response aimed to calm fears while digging deeper into the hoax or threat. Airport operations stayed alert, but flights resumed normally after checks cleared the area.
