New Delhi: India lodged a strong protest against Pakistan's statements in the United Nations Security Council. India's Permanent Representative Parvathneni Harish said that Pakistan continuously spreads lies, tries to justify terrorism, and has been ignoring international agreements. According to him, Pakistan's aim is only to harm India and its citizens.
Harish said that despite being a member of the Security Council, the representative of Pakistan is using this platform to make statements against India. He alleged that Pakistan repeatedly distorts facts and tries to justify terrorism.
India referred to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir in April 2025, in which 26 innocent people lost their lives. Harish said that Pakistan-backed terrorists were behind this attack. He reminded them that the Security Council had also said that the culprits of this attack, the conspirators, and those who helped them should be punished.
Harish said that India took the same steps that were expected by the international community. He said that action against terrorism was necessary and it could not be avoided.
The Indian representative rejected Pakistan's allegations and said that India's action was measured and responsible. Its objective was not to provoke any country, but to break the terrorist structure and weaken the strength of the terrorists.
He also said that till May 9, Pakistan kept threatening India with more attacks, but on May 10, the Pakistani Army itself contacted the Indian Army and asked to calm the situation.
Harish claimed that many airbases of Pakistan were affected in the Indian action. He said that photographs of the broken runway and burnt hangar are publicly available, from which the damage can be estimated.
Expressing displeasure over Pakistan's language, Harish said that terrorism can never be considered normal. He clearly said that it is wrong for any country to make terrorism a part of its policy and it cannot be accepted under any circumstances.
Harish said that Pakistan has no right to comment on India's internal affairs. He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and will remain so in future.
He said that this agreement was made 65 years ago in the spirit of mutual trust and friendship. But Pakistan continuously weakened that trust through war and terrorism.
He said that thousands of Indians have lost their lives in Pakistan-backed attacks. For this reason, India has decided that this treaty will not be taken forward until Pakistan completely and credibly ends its support of cross-border terrorism.
In the end, Harish clearly said that India will not make any compromise on the security of its citizens. India will take whatever steps are necessary to protect the country and save the lives of the people.
