New Delhi: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for and inaugurated development projects worth approximately ₹9,400 crore in Hyderabad. Subsequently, while addressing an event, he made a significant remark regarding Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
PM Modi stated, "Our Revanth-ji mentioned that he would refrain from making political remarks, so I shall do the same. Therefore, on a non-political note, I am prepared to offer you—Telangana—the same amount of assistance that the Government of India extended to Gujarat during its 10-year tenure. However, based on my understanding, let me inform you that the moment I do so, the resources you are currently receiving will be halved." He added with a chuckle, "You will not be able to reach the destination you aspire to reach. Therefore, it is best that you align yourself with me."
Earlier, Revanth Reddy had remarked that during the period when Manmohan Singh served as Prime Minister and Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, the 'Gujarat Model' of development was established over a span of 10 years. Now, the people of Telangana harbor similar expectations from him—that a 'Telangana Model' will be crafted over the coming decade, enabling the state to evolve into a $1 trillion economy by 2034. He noted that while Telangana accounts for less than 3 percent of the country's total population, the state aims to contribute 10 percent to the GDP, thereby playing a pivotal role in realizing Prime Minister Modi's vision of a $30 trillion Indian economy.
Meanwhile, amidst the ongoing crisis in West Asia, PM Modi stated that the need of the hour is to exercise restraint in the consumption of petroleum products. He emphasized that the utilization of imported petroleum products should be strictly limited to essential requirements. This approach, he noted, would not only result in foreign exchange savings but also aid in mitigating the adverse repercussions of the conflict. The Prime Minister highlighted that, over the past few years, India has emerged as a frontrunner among nations in the field of solar energy. Furthermore, unprecedented efforts have been undertaken to promote the blending of ethanol with petrol. He added that while the government was previously focused on achieving 100 percent LPG coverage, its attention has now shifted toward ensuring the supply of affordable piped gas. At the same time, the CNG-based ecosystem is also being rapidly promoted.
PM Modi stated that, thanks to all these efforts, India is able to firmly withstand the global energy crisis. He appealed to the people to use commodities such as petrol, gas, and diesel with extreme caution and restraint. He remarked that the country is advancing at a rapid pace of reforms while simultaneously building modern infrastructure. He assured every family in Telangana that the Central Government would continue to work with even greater momentum to realize their dreams.
