New Delhi: The Lok Sabha on Thursday has passed the Motion of Thanks on the President's address through a voice note during the Budget Session without the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's reply to her speech.
This is the first such instance since 2004, that the Lok Sabha has approved the President's speech without the PM's reply.
PM Modi was expected to reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President Droupadi Murmu's speech on Wednesday but it couldn't take place due to the repeated disruptions and protest by the opposition.
Amid slogans by the opposition members, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday passed the address by reading out the Motion of Thanks to the President speech to the joint sitting of Parliament on January 28.
As the protests and slogans continued, the speaker adjourned the proceedings till 2 pm.
Prime Minister Modi will respond to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday at 5 pm, where the discussion has concluded without disruption.

The saffron party alleges that opposition women MPs surrounded PM Modi's chair, preventing him from reaching it and forcing the postponement of his speech.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari claimed that opposition women MPs surrounded PM Modi's chair and even went beyond it.
"After what happened in the House today, the country will condemn the Congress. PM Modi was scheduled to speak. At exactly 5 PM, they used women to surround PM Modi's chair. They even went beyond that. What could be the purpose of using women to surround PM Modi's chair? Are you so frustrated by your defeat that you want to attack the Prime Minister? They came with the intention of attacking him in anger. We were all sitting in the House, astonished at what was happening. It was all pre-planned," Manoj Tiwari said.
