New Delhi: After Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, now senior part leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is following his path. The AAP leader has boycotted Delhi High Court judge, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, stating that he will no longer appear in her court for further proceedings in the CBI liquor policy case pending before her.

What did Manish Sisodia say?

Manish Sisodia in a letter to the Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said that neither he nor any lawyer on his behalf will appear in the excise policy case proceedings.

After Arvind Kejriwal's decision to boycott proceedings before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, now Manish Sisodia in letter said that he too accepts Gandhiji's principle of Satyagraha and that his conscience has left him with no other alternative.

In the letter, he said that his doubts over Justice Sharma's impartiality in the case stand unresolved.

Manish Sisodia wrote a letter to Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma on Tuesday, stating, "I will not have a lawyer appear on my behalf either. Your children's future is in the hands of Tushar Mehta. I have no hope of justice. Now I have no option left except Satyagraha."

What about Arvind Kejriwal case?

Earlier, Arvind Kejriwal had written a letter to Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma on Monday saying that he will never appear in her court again.

Arvind Kejriwal also stated in his letter that he no longer sees any hope of justice. He added that he no longer expects justice from Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, so he will neither appear in court himself nor send his lawyer.

What did Arvind Kejriwal say in his letter?

In his letter, Arvind Kejriwal clarified that he had made this decision based on his conscience. Citing Mahatma Gandhi's Satyagraha, he said that he would now adopt a moral and ideological path of protest rather than a legal battle.

Kejriwal also indicated that his move was not against the judicial system, but in support of his principles. However, he clarified that if Justice Sharma delivers a verdict, he would reserve the right to appeal the Supreme Court against it.

What happened in Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma's court?

On April 20, Delhi High Court Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma dismissed Arvind Kejriwal's petition seeking the Justice's recusal from hearing the Delhi Excise Policy case.

In delivering her decision, Justice Sharma clarified that withdrawing from the hearing without considering the petition would have been an easy option, but she considered it appropriate to decide the case on its merits, while prioritizing institutional sanctity and dignity.
