Maharashtra Accepts Manoj Jarange’s Demands, Paving Way for Maratha Reservation Amid Prolonged Statewide Agitation

Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange ended his hunger strike after Maharashtra government accepted his demands. The government promised an immediate order, clearing the path for long-debated Maratha quota implementation.

Manoj Jarange’s Demands

National News: Most of the demands of Maratha reservation including giving Kunbi caste certificate to eligible Marathas have been accepted by the Cabinet Sub-Committee of the Maharashtra Government. Activist Manoj Jarange declared victory on Tuesday, ending his hunger strike on the fifth day. After this announcement, there is a festive atmosphere among his supporters.

After a meeting with the state government's cabinet sub-committee headed by minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Jarange told the Maratha reservation movement protesters, "We have won." 

'The agitation will end now'

Patil said that the Maharashtra government has agreed to the main demand of the protesters, which has cleared the way for reservation. The government will issue GR i.e. government order shortly today. The officials left for the GR process. The agitation will end today. Manoj Jarange said that he will end the hunger strike when the GR comes.

Jarange gave confidence to the High Court

Apart from this, Manoj Jarange assured the High Court that most of his supporters have either left Mumbai or will leave on Tuesday. He said that we do not understand the roads of Mumbai. You people have imposed a fine of 5 thousand on vehicles, take it back. The government has agreed. We will leave from here only after celebrating. Celebrating does not mean hooliganism. Bring the GR (Government Order) immediately, we will end the protest and play Holi.

Manoj Jarange said that it has been decided to give Rs 15 crore to the families of the victims of the Maratha reservation movement. It has been said that jobs will be given in the State Transport Board, now there should be a change in this. If the child is more educated then a government job should be given.

Jarange told his supporters in the presence of ministers that 'we have won.' He said that if the Maharashtra government issues an official order on the demand for Maratha reservation, I will leave Mumbai by 9 pm tonight.

Jarange told what the government promised

Manoj Jarange said that the government has promised to withdraw all the cases against the protesters by September. Before this, cabinet ministers Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Shivendra Raje Bhosale, Jai Kumar Gore and Manikrao Kokate reached Azad Maidan. All four are cabinet ministers. All four ministers informed Jarange about the discussion held with the committee regarding reservation.
