National News: Government schools in Punjab are soon going to create history, where students will get daily motivation for patriotism along with exposure to technology. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, the education system is being transformed, and now a special step has been taken to connect students directly with the nation’s defence and modern advancements. Education Minister Sardar Harjot Singh Bains has written to the Chief of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, requesting to place retired MiG-21 fighter jets in state schools. These jets, once dedicated to protecting the country, will now inspire millions of students to dream of careers in defense and engineering.
Sardar Bains has asked the IAF Chief to set up five MiG-21 jets in government schools at Ludhiana, Amritsar, Ferozepur, Nangal, and Kharar. He said, “Together we can honor the MiG-21, a jet that will remain alive forever in memory, and also instill in our children a deep sense of patriotism and commitment.”
The main aim of this initiative is to encourage government school students across Punjab to move towards careers in defense, aerospace, engineering, and technology. Minister Bains also shared that the Punjab government will join hands with the Indian Air Force to conduct events and programs for formally placing these fighter jets in schools. Through these efforts, the state wants to encourage discipline, hard work, and a spirit of service among students.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains praised the Indian Air Force for its unmatched service to the nation and congratulated the MiG-21 jets on their official retirement. He described them as a “symbol of bravery, discipline, and loyalty in India’s defense journey.” These aircraft, which played important roles in the 1965 Indo-Pak War, the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, and the 1999 Kargil War, will now stand as reminders of India’s proud military past. He expressed belief that their presence in schools will motivate students to show courage and determination in life. Minister Bains further added that this unique step reflects the Punjab Government’s ongoing work, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to bring innovation in education. His proposal seeks to place retired MiG-21 jets in Punjab’s “Schools of Eminence” to inspire students to become military officers and serve the nation. Alongside this, several forward-looking measures, including global training for teachers, have already been launched to raise the standard of learning in the state.
