People have become homeless from their homes due to floods in many places, while landslides and cloudbursts in the mountainous areas have worsened the situation.

Yamuna water level in Delhi near danger mark

Flood danger in Delhi has increased due to additional water released from Haryana. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that floodwater will not reach urban areas, as the administration has already made complete preparations. According to the Meteorological Department, the water level of Yamuna can cross the danger mark by Tuesday evening.

Destruction in Uttarakhand and Punjab

Railway operations affected in Jammu

Railway officials said that the railway track between Kathua and Madhopur has been damaged and repair work is going on.

Army engaged in relief work

The Western Command army is conducting relief and rescue operations in flood affected areas of Jammu, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. So far, more than 5,000 people have been safely evacuated, and more than 21 tonnes of relief materials have been transported to the needy. The rescue operations going on since August 16 have put 20 aircraft into service, including the Advanced Light Helicopter, MI-17, and Chinook.
