New Delhi: North and Central India were on fire on Saturday. Rohtak of Haryana was the hottest with 44.1 degrees. Chittorgarh in Rajasthan recorded 44.2 degrees. Bathinda of Punjab also got scorched up to 43.8 degrees. The temperature was 40.5 degrees in Amritsar, 41.2 degrees in Ludhiana and 40.6 degrees in Chandigarh. 42.4 degrees were recorded in Hisar and 41.2 degrees in Ambala, Haryana. The mercury crossed 45 degrees in many areas of Delhi.
IMD has clearly said that the heat will increase further in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh from Sunday. The effect of heat wave will intensify. Yellow alert has been issued in Himachal Pradesh on 26 and 27 May. There is a danger of heat wave in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Solan and Sirmaur. There is a heat wave alert for Monday in Garhwa, Palamu and Chatra of Jharkhand.
Not complete relief, but rain is expected at some places. Many districts of Jharkhand may receive light to moderate rain with thunderstorms for the next 6 days. An orange alert of rain has been issued in Dhanbad on Sunday. In Himachal too, due to western disturbance, there may be rain and storms in some parts.
Scary news has come from Telangana. There, 16 people have died in 7 districts due to heat wave. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy himself confirmed this. Patients suffering from heat stroke, dehydration and dizziness are increasing rapidly in the hospitals of Delhi-NCR. Doctors are continuously giving warnings.
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has put all government hospitals on alert. It has been ordered that a separate unit for heat stroke should be created in every hospital. Have ice packs, cold water, ORS and essential medicines ready at all times. There should be arrangements to cool the patients immediately.
At present, the situation may worsen in the next 2-3 days. Avoid leaving the house from 11 am to 4 pm. If it is necessary to go out, cover your head and carry an umbrella.
