New Delhi: On April 7 and 8, rain, storm and hail surprised people across North India including Delhi-NCR. The reason for this is the Western Disturbance active in the hilly areas, which rises from the Mediterranean Sea and brings with it moisture, coolness and weather fluctuations. This week, two western disturbances became active one after the other in northwest India, whose fastest activity was on 7 and 8 April.
In Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, there was rain with thunder, lightning and strong winds at a speed of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour. Apart from this, there was a possibility of sporadic hailstorm in Bihar and Jharkhand from 6 to 8 April, and hailstorm occurred in Western Madhya Pradesh on 8 April. How was the weather condition in Delhi-NCR? Between April 4 and 7, the weather in Delhi remained fluctuating and there were light rains and strong winds in the evening. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, meaning it is important to be a little cautious while leaving the house, especially in the evening.

There is rain in the plains and there is even more movement in the mountains. Snowfall and hailstorm were expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Incidents of flash floods, landslides and stone falling may also occur at some sensitive places in Jammu and Kashmir.
This danger is not limited to just one or two places. Hail may fall in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and Western Uttar Pradesh. There was a possibility of a strong storm with a speed of 60 to 70 km per hour in Rajasthan. In Uttar Pradesh, farmers' crops were badly affected due to hailstorm in many districts like Kanpur, Lucknow, Unnao.
Standing Rabi season crops like wheat and mustard can suffer major damage due to heavy rains and hailstorm, especially in Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and many areas of North India. The worries of the farmers who have not yet harvested their crops have increased.
At present it is definitely a bit cool due to rain. According to weather experts, the maximum temperature on April 7 and 8 may go 8 to 15 degrees Celsius below normal. But this relief will not last long. According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature will gradually start returning to normal in the next seven days after the active western disturbance.
The Meteorological Department has clearly said to avoid going to open fields in the evening. If you are a farmer then make arrangements to cover the crop. And if you are planning to go towards the mountains, then set out only after knowing the routes.
