New Delhi: On the occasion of National Space Day, PM Narendra Modi greeted the entire nation on Sunday. The PM said that India is proud of what it has done in space, but there is no stopping now. He wrote on social media that India should dream big, innovate more and touch new boundaries of space. The PM also shared a video with his post which shows India's entire journey to space.
This time the Prime Minister's message was especially focused on preparations for the future. He described the hard work of scientists, engineers and youth as the strength of the country's space travel. Over the years, India has shown its capability on many fronts, from Moon and Mars missions to private sector participation. The successful launch of India's first privately developed orbital rocket Vikram-1 in July 2026 is also an example of this changing space sector.

23rd August is a very special day for India. On this day in 2023, Vikram Lander of Chandrayaan-3 made a soft landing near the South Pole of the Moon. India became the fourth country in the world to do so and the first country to reach near the South Pole. To commemorate this great victory, National Space Day is celebrated every year on 23 August.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted the countrymen on National Space Day. He described the success of Chandrayaan-3 as the result of the extraordinary ability and hard work of Indian scientists. Praising ISRO scientists and engineers, Shah said that this mission has further strengthened India's presence in the field of space.
Warm greetings to every citizen on #NationalSpaceDay. It is a momentous day that marks the occasion when India’s Chandrayaan-3 touched down on the Moon’s South Pole, and celebrates our scientists at ISRO for making an indelible imprint of their genius on the sands of time.

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar saluted scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs associated with the space sector on National Space Day. He said that the hard work, thinking and continuous experiments of these people are expanding India's space capability. The increasing role of private companies and startups in the space sector is also being considered an important part of India's changing space ecosystem.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh described Chandrayaan-3 as a milestone for India. He said that by 2026, the number of space startups in India will reach around 440 and our space economy will be worth 9 billion dollars. Now space is not just ISRO's work, private companies are also coming into it.
India's space ambitions are no longer limited to the lunar surface. Emphasis is being laid on Gaganyaan mission, future Indian space station and increasing participation of private sector. In the last National Space Day address, the Prime Minister had also talked about promoting startups in the space sector and increasing the role of private companies. Now achievements like Vikram-1 in 2026 are indicating that in the coming years, India's space sector is going to become a big field for government institutions as well as private companies and young entrepreneurs.
