PM Modi Becomes Longest-Serving Head Of Government With 8,931 Days In Office (X)
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday achieved a historic milestone by becoming the longest-serving head of an elected government in the country and also surpassed former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling.
In office, PM Narendra Modi has completed 8,931 days as head of government, which combines his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and as Prime Minister, thereby entering his 25th year in a executive office.
PM Modi has surpassed former Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling, who held office for 8,930 days.
He first assumed office as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and remained in the role until May 21, 2014, serving the state for more than 13 years and then later moved to national politics.

With prior experience of the longest serving State Chief Minister, PM Narendra Modi is also the first Prime Minister born after Independence and his return to office for a third consecutive term places him among a select group of leaders with sustained electoral mandates at the national level.
Narendra Modi is also the first Prime Minister to have secured victory in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019 and 2024.
PM Modi sworn in as the 14th Prime Minister of the country on May 26, 2014 and also became the first non-Congress leader to secure a full majority in the Lok Sabha.
In addition to this milestone, PM Modi, last month crossed 30 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.
In February, PM Narendra Modi also crossed 100 million followers on Instagram, which made him the first serving world leader and politician to achieve the milestone on the platform.
PM Modi has 106.4 million followers on X.
