New Delhi: On Sunday morning, a potential accident was narrowly avoided when the loco-pilot of a goods train applied emergency brakes after spotting a gas cylinder on the tracks near Uttar Pradeshs Prempur Station. The train was en route from Kanpur to Prayagraj when the incident occurred at around 5:50 AM.The Central Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Central Railway stated, A goods train traveling from Kanpur towards Prayagraj was stopped using the emergency brakes after the driver spotted a gas cylinder lying on the tracks. Railway personnel inspected the area and removed the object. A senior police official revealed, An attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express using an LPG cylinder. Thankfully, the trains loco-pilot noticed the obstruction in time and applied emergency brakes, minimizing potential damage.While the train did hit the cylinder, it was pushed off the tracks due to the impact, preventing a derailment. Authorities also discovered a Molotov cocktail at the scene, raising concerns about sabotage. In yet another railway incident on August 17, the Varanasi-Ahmedabad Sabarmati Express derailed near Kanpur after hitting a boulder on the tracks. More recently, a six-meter iron rod was found between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur City, further adding to suspicions of foul play on the tracks. Investigations into these incidents are ongoing, with authorities suspecting possible sabotage.
