Uttar Pradesh: Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh police arrested 30-year-old Maizan Raza on Saturday for inflammatory posts on social media. His alleged posts included threats to attack the Ram temple in Ayodhya, disrupt Mahakumbh-2025, and harm Hindu women. His posts also had derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, which created an outrage across the nation.Tip-off by VHP Leader Leads to ArrestThe arrest came hours after VHP leader KK Shankdhar brought the case to the notice of additional director general of police Ramit Sharma. According to the officer, on receipt of the information Bareilly circle officer Pankaj Srivastava confirmed police tracked and nabbed Raza within 12 hours of the complaint.Unlettered Accused Makes Bogus Claims on EducationThis is a report of a person being illiterate by birth. In fact, his father is a snack shop owner. Raza has lied to the public at large about himself being an alumnus of the high-end school at Bareilly on his social media profiles, which has highlighted whether such a person accessed or utilized social media for hate.Legal Action Taken Under Relevant Sections:Raza has been confined to the cell for violating several sections of law that deal with enmity and hurting the sentiments of a particular religion. Sources from the police said he sent at least five different messages with violent and abusive threats and which further aggravated the case.Apology from Behind Bars Sparks More ControversyIn a video shot when Raza was in police custody, he apologized while crying through his tears to the government while promising not to do such an activity again, yet he said that the government would follow it up to make sure justice is served.
