Radhika Yadav, a tennis player from Gurugram who was ranked 113th in the ITF doubles rankings, fell victim to bullets fired by her own father. It is being reported that a dispute arose between them over her posting reels on social media. In a fit of rage, the father lost control and fired three shots at her, resulting in her death.
In Gurugram, Haryana, 25-year-old state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her father on Thursday. The incident took place around 10:30 AM on the first floor of their residence in Sector 57. According to preliminary information, Radhika's father, Deepak Yadav, took out his licensed revolver and opened fire following an argument regarding a video reel she had recorded for social media. He fired three consecutive bullets at her. Radhika was taken in critical condition to a private hospital, where she died during treatment.
Gurugram Police PRO Sandeep Kumar stated that the initial investigation indicates household tension arose due to a social media post. He said the father got enraged and shot Radhika. The weapon used in the incident was a licensed revolver, which has since been recovered from the residence. Sector 56 Police Station in-charge Rajendra Kumar said the police received information about the incident from the hospital. He said, “We got a call from the hospital about a woman injured due to gunshot wounds. By the time we reached, she had died. Family members' statements confirmed that the father was indeed responsible for his daughter's death.
