New Delhi: In its latest bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that significant changes in the country's weather are expected tomorrow - Thursday, June 4, 2026. According to the IMD, while there is a strong possibility of the Southwest Monsoon arriving in Kerala, warnings have been issued for rain accompanied by dust storms and hailstorms across several states in North and Central India.

The IMD noted that strong wind gusts are also expected during this period, which could lead to a drop in temperatures. Additionally, the IMD has issued an alert for light rain accompanied by thunderstorms for the national capital, Delhi, and the adjoining NCR region from June 4 to June 6. This is expected to provide relief from the heat and result in pleasant weather conditions.

In its latest bulletin, the IMD stated that most parts of North India—including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh—are likely to experience rain accompanied by strong winds tomorrow, Thursday. During this period, winds are expected to blow at speeds reaching up to 90 kilometers per hour. According to the Meteorological Department, the national capital, Delhi, and its surrounding areas (NCR) are expected to remain overcast starting from the morning of June 4. Furthermore, light rain accompanied by thunderstorms and dust storms may occur during the afternoon or evening hours. According to the Meteorological Department, under the influence of a Western Disturbance and local weather phenomena, weather conditions in the NCR are expected to remain more favorable than usual during the first week of June.

What is the IMD Weather Forecast for Central India and Rajasthan?

According to the IMD, wind speeds in the Delhi-NCR region could reach between 40 and 60 km per hour during this period. The department forecasts that the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to range between 38°C and 40°C. Meanwhile, warnings have been issued for heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and for hailstorms in certain locations across East Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department has also indicated the possibility of hailstorms in East and West Madhya Pradesh on June 4. Additionally, there is a possibility of dust storms in Western Rajasthan, as well as light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds gusting at speeds of 50–60 km/h in Eastern Madhya Pradesh and the Vidarbha region.

Where is Heavy Rainfall Expected?

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in approximately a dozen—specifically 12—states across India on June 4, 2026. The Meteorological Department has stated that the monsoon is likely to arrive in Kerala on Thursday. Consequently, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7–20 cm) is forecast at isolated places across Kerala and Mahe on June 4. Furthermore, heavy rainfall is also predicted for parts of Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, and Lakshadweep. The possibility of heavy rainfall has also been indicated for isolated areas within the Konkan and Goa regions.

What is Weather Forecast for Maharashtra and North East?

On the other hand, due to local weather conditions and the influence of a Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Uttarakhand as well. Additionally, the IMD has issued a warning for heavy rainfall at isolated locations across the northeastern states of India—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. Heavy rainfall is also likely in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, as well as in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The IMD has stated that a distinct change in weather patterns will become evident in the Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Mumbai metropolitan areas starting June 4. Isolated areas are expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall activity.

What is the Monsoon Update?

The IMD has stated that conditions are entirely favorable for the onset of the Southwest Monsoon over Kerala within the next 24 hours. Under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast for parts of Kerala, Mahe, and Coastal Karnataka on June 4. Furthermore, heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and South Interior Karnataka. In view of heavy rainfall, the IMD has issued a warning for fishermen and advised them not to venture into the sea near the Gulf of Mannar, the Lakshadweep region, and the Kerala-Karnataka coasts on June 4.
