Baramati: After the tragic demise of Ajit Pawar on Wednesday morning in a plane crash in Baramati, Sharad Pawar made a statement on the ongoing controversy around the accident. In his first reaction, Sharad Pawar said it was purely an accident and no politics should be done on this issue. Notably, Sharad Pawar spoke when several political leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, Mallikarjun Kharge and Akhilesh Yadav, demanded a probe into the mishap.
Sharad Pawar shared a video message and expressed his anguish over the mishap, and said the state has suffered a significant loss with the passing of such a dedicated and hardworking individual. "The loss caused by this incident cannot be easily compensated," he said.
Further, Pawar also warned about some false narratives, and said, "Some malicious forces are trying to portray this accident as politically motivated, which is not true."
He added, "There is no politics involved here; it is purely an accident. The grief affects Maharashtra and all of us deeply. I appeal to everyone not to politicise this tragedy."
Taking to X, sharing a video message, he wrote, ''Ajit Pawar's untimely death is a massive shock to Maharashtra. The state has today lost a capable and decisive leader. The loss that has occurred cannot be compensated, but not everything is in our hands.
I wasn't planning to come before the media today, but I learned that some media outlets have taken a stance from Kolkata suggesting that there is some politics behind this accident. But there is no politics in this; it is purely an accident. The agony of this death is felt by Maharashtra, by all of us. Please do not bring politics into this. That's all I have to say.''
