New Delhi: Weather activity is expected to remain significant across several parts of the country on June 13, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Southwest Monsoon has advanced further into parts of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Over the next two to three days, the monsoon is likely to reach other areas of Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh. This progression will bring heavy rainfall to East and Central India.
Regarding North India, thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and rain are expected in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on Saturday. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh will also experience light to moderate rainfall. Strong winds blowing at speeds of 40 to 60 kmph are likely during this period. Weather conditions will also shift in parts of Rajasthan, with the possibility of dust storms and thunderstorms in some areas. Delhi-NCR will see partly cloudy skies, with forecasts predicting light rain and gusty winds.
Rainfall activity is expected to intensify across East India, specifically in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim. On June 13, Bihar is likely to experience rain at multiple locations, with heavy downpours expected in some areas. Spells of rain and strong winds are also likely to continue in Odisha and Jharkhand. An alert for continuous heavy rainfall has been issued for Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, which could lead to conditions such as waterlogging and landslides in certain areas.
Widespread rainfall will continue across the Northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected in several areas. Heavy rainfall is forecast for Assam and Meghalaya over the coming days, while continuous rain in Arunachal Pradesh could lead to rising water levels in rivers and streams.
Rain and strong winds are likely in isolated areas across Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra, and Marathwada. However, hot conditions will persist in Vidarbha and Marathwada. The Meteorological Department has warned of continuing heatwave conditions in parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Telangana. Heatwave conditions are also likely in some areas of West Rajasthan until June 13.
Rainfall activity will continue across South India, covering Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and the interior regions of Karnataka. Widespread rainfall is expected in Kerala and coastal Karnataka, while Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen against venturing into the sea in parts of the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, as strong winds and rough sea conditions are likely to persist in these areas.
