New Delhi: NDA leaders congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Bharat Mandapam on the occasion of him setting the record for the longest continuous tenure as Prime Minister. During the event, PM Modi shared a lighthearted moment with fellow leaders while tasting West Bengal's famous 'Jhalmuri'; a video of this interaction is rapidly going viral on social media. Sharing the video himself, PM Modi wrote that he shared 'Jhalmuri' with fellow leaders at the NDA meeting today.

What did PM Modi tell Suvendu Adhikari?

In the video, the Chief Minister of West Bengal can be seen standing near a stall with *Jhalmuri* placed in front. Upon arriving and seeing the 'Jhalmuri', PM Modi remarks, "I want this one", and breaks into laughter. Others present also join in the laughter. Suvendu Adhikari then hands the 'Jhalmuri' to PM Modi, who thanks him and moves on.

Notably, key leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) gathered at Delhi's Bharat Mandapam on Wednesday to congratulate Prime Minister Modi. During the meeting, NDA leaders extended their heartfelt congratulations to him for becoming India's longest-serving Prime Minister. By June 10, PM Modi had completed a tenure of 4,399 days, thereby surpassing the record held by the country's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu moved the resolution regarding this, while Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio seconded it. Following the meeting, PM Modi and the NDA leaders posed for a group photograph. Leaders from all NDA allied parties praised PM Modi's leadership and reiterated their commitment to working together within the alliance in the future.

What records of Nehru and Indira?

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru assumed office in 1947 and remained in the position until his passing in 1964. His total tenure spanned approximately 16 years and 9 months, though it was not divided into two separate terms. Meanwhile, Indira Gandhi served for a total of approximately 16 years, but her tenure spanned two separate periods. With two consecutive full terms, Prime Minister Modi has now become the country's longest-serving democratically elected Prime Minister in terms of continuous tenure.

In a statement, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) noted that this achievement by Prime Minister Modi signifies over 12 years of continuous, stable, and progressive governance. The PMO highlighted key features of his tenure—stability, transparency, and an unwavering commitment to nation-building. During this period, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has further expanded its political dominance at the national level and strengthened its foothold across various regions and communities of the country.
