A shocking incident has come to light from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, where a local court has sentenced 24-year-old Grishma to death for the murder of her boyfriend, Sharon Raj. The crime, which occurred in 2022, saw Grishma poison Sharon to death. The Neyyattinkara Court has described the case as "rarest of the rare," highlighting the severity of the crime.

Grishma and Sharon were in a relationship since 2021. Grishma, an English postgraduate student, and Sharon, a final-year undergraduate, shared a deep connection. However, despite the growing closeness between them, Grishma’s family arranged her marriage to an army officer in 2022. This did not deter Grishma and Sharon’s affair, which continued even as the wedding date approached.

The murderous plot unfolds

As her marriage drew nearer, Grishma meticulously planned Sharon’s murder. She made several unsuccessful attempts to poison him. Grishma initially mixed poison in juice and offered it to Sharon, but when it had no effect, she dared him to drink it. Later, she mixed the poison in an Ayurvedic medicine and gave it to him. On October 14, 2022, just a month before her wedding, Grishma invited Sharon to her home and laced his drink with pesticide. Sharon initially did not suspect anything, but after returning home, his health deteriorated, and he was hospitalized.

Sharon’s death and police investigation

Sharon succumbed to death on October 25, 2022. Before his death, he informed a friend that Grishma had betrayed him and poisoned him. Following the accusations from Sharon’s family, the police launched an investigation and arrested Grishma. They revealed that Grishma had deleted intimate photos and videos of herself and Sharon, fearing he would share them with her future husband.

Court’s verdict and family’s role

While Grishma's mother, Sindhu, was acquitted, her uncle, Nirmalkumaran Nair, was found guilty of assisting and instigating the crime. Grishma was convicted on charges of murder, poisoning, and destruction of evidence. The case was filed under serious charges such as murder, kidnapping, and providing false evidence.
