Islamabad: On Tuesday night, a cargo plane suddenly disappeared from the radar in Pakistan and there was panic in the entire area. This plane was going from Sharjah in UAE to Karachi. There were 5 crew members on board the plane. It lost contact with air traffic control mid-flight. Immediately after this, search and rescue operations were started in the Arabian Sea. The search for the plane and crew members is still going on.

Was there any technical problem during the flight?

According to Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), this Boeing 737 cargo plane of K2 Airways had left from Sharjah for Karachi on time. At around 9:18 pm, when the plane was in the air, the pilot told ATC that there was a malfunction in the plane's navigation system. Only after this the contact with the plane was lost. Then Karachi Area Control Center started trying to show the plane a safe path.

How did the plane suddenly disappear from the radar?

According to officials, within minutes of reporting the technical problem, the condition of the plane deteriorated rapidly. At around 9:22 pm, it was seen on the radar that the plane started descending very fast and its direction also changed suddenly. ATC contact was lost soon after. The plane completely disappeared from the radar about 155 nautical miles west of Karachi.

How is the search for the missing plane going on?

As soon as contact was lost, Pakistan Airports Authority activated the Rescue Coordination Centre. After this, a major search and rescue operation is being conducted in the Arabian Sea with the help of Pakistan Navy, Air Force and other government agencies. Ships and surveillance aircraft have also been deployed in the sea to quickly locate the aircraft and crew.

Officials have confirmed that a total of 5 crew members were on board. His identity has not been made public yet. There is no official result yet regarding the cause of the accident. Initial information only states that there was a malfunction in the navigation system.
