Islamabad: On Sunday, a massive blast was carried out targeting a passenger train in Quetta. The incident took place near Maan Phatak area. As soon as the explosion occurred, several coaches of the train were uprooted from the tracks and overturned. A compartment caught fire. Black smoke and flames were visible in the distance. People started running here and there to save their lives.
The train was coming from Quetta Cantt. As soon as it reached Mann Gate, a bomb hidden on the side of the track exploded. The sound of the explosion was so loud that the glasses of nearby houses shook. The track was uprooted and 4-5 coaches fell down. People sitting in the coaches were badly trapped in the fire. There was shouting.

Police, railway and army teams arrived within about 10 minutes of the blast. First the fire was extinguished, then the compartments were cut and people were taken out. The injured were sent to Quetta Civil Hospital and CMH. Government figures have not been released yet, but eyewitnesses are saying that the situation is very bad.
In Balochistan, separatist organizations like BLA have been attacking trains and military convoys. Last year, Jafar Express was hijacked. No one has taken responsibility yet, but the suspicion is on Baloch fighters only. These people demand a separate country from Pakistan.
Has happened again and again. Blowing up tracks and firing on trains is no longer a new thing in Balochistan. Trains from Quetta to Peshawar and Karachi are the most targeted. Local people say that boarding the train here is like risking one's life.
At present the Maan Phatak area is sealed. The track is being repaired. The movement of trains has been stopped. And in Balochistan once again there is the same atmosphere of fear which is no stranger to the people here.
