Sports News: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has finally broken its silence on the decision to release its star fast bowler Mohammed Siraj ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. RCB's cricket director, Mo Bobat, has revealed the strategy behind this decision. Mohammed Siraj was with RCB for seven years, and his performance was also very good. Now he is part of the Gujarat Titans team.
RCB's cricket director, Mo Bobat, said that RCB's target was to create a balanced and strong bowling lineup that would be effective in different situations. He said that there was a desire to include Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the team because his experience and swing bowling skills were important for RCB's strategy. Bobat clarified that retaining Siraj would have made it difficult to acquire Bhuvneshwar, as it was necessary to balance the budget and the priority of the players in the auction.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, Bobat said, 'Siraj is probably the player we thought about the most. Indian international bowlers are not easily available. We discussed every possible situation with Siraj, whether to retain him, release him, or use the right to match. It was not a direct decision. We were trying to bring Bhuvi to both ends of the innings. Keeping Siraj in the team would have made it difficult. There is no one reason; many factors play a role in this.'
Along with this, Bobat also revealed that Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was not retained just because of injury. He said, 'If he were fit, we would have almost certainly retained him.'
