Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory As Parliament Monsoon Session Begins; Check Diversions

New Delhi: The Monsoon Session of Parliament has begun from Monday. On the other hand, a warning has also been issued against protests in this area. However, the police officials said that permission has not been taken from the police for the protest. Overall, Monday is going to be a very busy day in the National Capital. Keeping this in mind, Delhi Police has also geared up and issued an advisory. 

What did the Delhi traffic police say?

In view of the Parliament session and protest march, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory advising people to avoid going on some routes around the Parliament. To avoid difficulties for the common people, the Traffic Police has also suggested taking alternative routes.

In fact, in view of the possibility of increased traffic pressure around the Parliament House during the Parliament session, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory. According to the police, traffic congestion will be high on several major routes during the arrival and departure of MPs and other dignitaries. Therefore, commuters have been urged to avoid these routes whenever possible and use alternative routes.

What is there in the advisory?

According to the advisory, heavy traffic is expected on Rafi Marg, Motilal Nehru Marg, Maulana Azad Road, K. Kamaraj Marg, Raisina Road, Rajendra Prasad Road, Parliament Marg, Ashoka Road, Talkatora Road, Pandit Pant Marg, and Rakabganj Gurudwara Road. Traffic regulations may be implemented on these routes from time to time as needed, which may affect vehicle speeds.

The Delhi Traffic Police have also identified some key intersections as sensitive, where traffic may be disrupted during peak hours. These include Vijay Chowk, Boat Club, Rail Bhavan, Sunheri Masjid, Patel Chowk, Bhagat Singh Chowk, Prime Chowk, GRG, and Jalebi Chowk. Commuters heading towards government offices and commercial areas in Lutyens' Delhi have been advised to allow extra time.

Why did police advice on taking an alternate route?

To ease congestion, the traffic police have suggested several alternative routes. Motorists can use Janpath, Mansingh Road, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Shanti Path, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Road, Kamal Ataturk Marg, Panchsheel Marg, Vinay Marg, Connaught Place Outer Circle, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Ram Manohar Lohia Road, Mother Teresa Crescent Road, 11 Murti, and Sardar Patel Marg. Additional police personnel will be deployed on these routes to maintain smooth traffic flow.

The traffic police have appealed to the public to follow the instructions of the police personnel on duty, obey traffic rules, and receive real-time updates from the official Delhi Traffic Police channels. The police have stated that it is best to avoid unnecessary travel during peak hours in the Parliament area to avoid traffic jams and delays. Commuters have been advised to plan their route before commuting and use public transport or alternative routes if possible. This will not only save them time but also help reduce traffic congestion in the Parliament area.
