Punjab Education
Punjab’s School Education Department organised the fourth Mega Parent Teacher Meeting across the state. More than twenty three lakh parents reached government schools. The aim was to improve trust between schools and families. Parents were encouraged to speak openly with teachers. The focus remained on overall child development. Officials described it as Punjab’s biggest education outreach. The scale itself made the meeting significant.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains led the state level programme. He visited Government Senior Secondary School for Girls at Sri Anandpur Sahib. The minister interacted with parents and teachers. He explained the government’s education vision. He stressed shared responsibility for children’s growth. His presence gave the programme official weight. The message was carried statewide.
Aam Aadmi Party Punjab incharge Manish Sisodia joined the programme in Hoshiarpur district. He attended the Mega PTM at Government Senior Secondary Smart School Paddi Sura Singh. Parents raised concerns directly. School facilities and learning methods were discussed. Sisodia highlighted parent participation as essential. He said schools improve when families stay involved. The visit added political attention.
The programme saw extensive monitoring by public representatives. MLAs visited schools in their constituencies. Education Secretary Anindita Mitra supervised the process. SCERT Director Kiran Sharma also remained involved. Deputy Commissioners joined school visits. Senior officials covered more than seven thousand five hundred schools. The intent was serious implementation.
Minister Bains said the initiative reflects Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s education priority. The theme focused on parental partnership. The government wants parents as active stakeholders. Schools are encouraged to listen, not instruct only. Trust between home and classroom is central. Officials believe learning improves with cooperation. This approach guides current reforms.
Over forty thousand teachers received structured training. Training was conducted at block and cluster levels. Every government school had at least one trained teacher. These teachers led parent workshops. School Management Committee members supported coordination. Sessions explained academic and emotional needs. The aim was meaningful dialogue, not formality.
Each Mega PTM begins with a focused parent workshop. Workshops last around one to one and half hours. Shared designs guide the meetings. Parents receive printed handouts for clarity. Discussions start with appreciation for children’s efforts. Teachers and parents exchange feedback openly. Officials expect better attendance and performance outcomes.
