Lucknow: A massive fire broke out at the 12-storey Jawahar Bhawan government building in Lucknow's Hazratganj on Monday and the blaze erupted around 10 am on the upper floors after government offices had opened for the day.

Where did the incident happen?

A massive fire broke out in Jawahar Bhawan, a four-story government building in Hazratganj, Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, on Monday morning. The blaze erupted in the Food and Logistics Department's office and canteen on the fourth floor of the building, sending high flames and thick plumes of black smoke visible from far and wide. Six fire brigade vehicles arrived at the scene and began extinguishing the fire. No casualties have been reported at this time.

When did the blaze erupt?

The incident occurred around 10 am on Monday morning. Most employees had already arrived at the office. As soon as the fire broke out, employees and others inside the building were safely evacuated. The sudden smoke filled the government building, causing a brief panic.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire was so intense that the black smoke rising from it was visible from nearly two kilometers away. Jawahar Bhawan is located in the capital's posh Hazratganj area, about two kilometers from the Assembly. Seeing the plume of smoke, people nearby began rushing to the scene.

What did the police say?

Upon receiving the information, several fire brigade teams arrived at the scene and began efforts to control the fire. The cause of the fire is currently unknown. After the fire is completely extinguished, a departmental team will inspect the site, which will determine the cause of the incident. Jawahar Bhawan houses the offices of several important state government departments, where a large number of employees work daily. Currently, firefighters are engaged in extinguishing the fire and the situation is being continuously monitored.
