Tech News: Science has taken another big leap. Scientists have developed a technology that can command a computer just by your thinking. This technology is called Brain-Computer Interface (BCI). Under this, a person can control devices just by thinking without speaking or doing anything. This technology is proving to be a boon especially for those who are paralyzed or are unable to speak or hear. Experts believe that with continuous research, this innovation could become a part of daily life very soon. It has opened new doors of hope for millions of disabled people across the world. If successful on a large scale, this could revolutionize the way humans and machines interact.
Scientists at Stanford University recently successfully tested this technology in an experiment. In this, electrodes were placed in a person's brain, which record the activities of neurons. When a person thinks about something, special types of electrical signals are generated in the brain. BCI captures these signals and sends them to the computer, which converts them into an action. If someone thinks to turn on the TV, then the computer understands that command and turns on the TV.
EEG (electroencephalography) is often used in this process, in which a special cap is worn on the head which has sensors attached to it. This cap reads the signals coming from the brain and converts them into digital commands.
Although the technology is still in its initial stages and is not available to the general public, it is still developing rapidly. Many companies and research labs around the world are working on it. Elon Musk's company Neuralink is especially considered a pioneer in this field. They are working towards giving precise commands through small chips in the brain.
With this technology, in the future, we will be able to control smartphones, wheelchairs, robots or household appliances without using hands or voice. However, there are concerns related to data security and health, which need to be worked upon seriously.
