UK Traveller's South India Picks Go Viral: Goa and Kerala Top His List (Instagram)
New Delhi: A UK visitor has sparked a buzz online with a candid video ranking the places he explored in South India this year. In the clip, he talks about his journey, his favourite spots and why he thinks first-time visitors should consider starting their India trip in the south.
The video was posted on Instagram by content creator Rory Porter, who told viewers he travelled to India twice this year, once in March and again in October. He said he wanted to share his honest impressions of the destinations he saw, from beaches and backwaters to hill towns and cities.
The foreign traveller shared the video on Instagram with the caption, "Ranking Places In south India."
Goa topped his list with a 9 out of 10 score. Rory admitted that technically Goa isn't part of South India, but he included it because he loved its beaches, laid-back vibe, friendly people and easy travel logistics.
Calling it 'unbelievable', he gave Alleppey in Kerala a 9 out of 10 score. He spoke warmly about cruising the backwaters on a houseboat, fishing with locals and enjoying freshly cooked seafood.
Munnar, known for its tea gardens and green hills, was described as 'really beautiful' and rated 8 out of 10 by him. He enjoyed the views, local tea and a martial arts show, though he felt a longer stay would have helped.
Kochi in Kerala received an 8 out of 10 as well. Rory described the city as clean and charming, with distinctive Dutch and Portuguese architecture and a friendly atmosphere.
Wrapping up his video, Rory encouraged people visiting India for the first time to explore the southern region. He said South India left a strong impression and that travellers "won't regret it."
Commenters, especially from Kerala, welcomed him warmly. Many thanked him for showcasing their state with respect and suggested more places he could visit next time, like Wayanad and Varkala. Some also appreciated that he was open about the short time he spent in each place and still gave fair ratings.
