In the realm of religious beliefs, marriage stands as a profound and revered connection. Within Islam, the Nikah tradition allows for unions between step-siblings, a practice recognized globally across nations. Within the followers of Islam, numerous couples have sanctified their relationships through marriage with their step-siblings.

Recently, a woman grappling with this convention chose a significant path of change by converting to Hinduism and marrying a Hindu gentleman named Shivam. This transformative decision saw her transition from Sambha Parveen to Poonam. The incident unfolded in Bihar, specifically within the Aurangabad district, where Sambha Parveen embarked on a marital journey with her partner Shivam Varma, embracing Hinduism along the way.

The ceremony culminated in the traditional seven rounds around the sacred fire at the August Muni Ashram, located in Subhash Nagar. Poonam, previously known as Sambha, expressed her unease with the concept of step-sibling marriage in Islam, a sentiment that ultimately steered her towards Hinduism and her union with Shivam Varma.

Emphasis on intra-family marriages

Beyond the boundaries of Muslim-majority nations, the practice of intra-family marriages also holds significance in various West Asian countries. This tradition, deeply rooted in feudal and tribal systems prevalent in Middle Eastern nations, continues to maintain relevance. Consequently, there exists a prevailing trend that upholds the importance of marriages within families, ensuring the continuity of this longstanding system. Furthermore, even within Islam's revered scripture, the Quran, marriage with a step-sister is acknowledged and permitted.
