New Delhi: BMW Motorrad has launched the new M 1000 R supersport roadster, expanding its high-performance 'M' series in the Indian market. This powerful motorcycle will arrive in India as a 'Completely Built-up Unit' (CBU), meaning it will be directly imported from abroad. Bookings for the bike have already commenced at authorized dealerships across the country. The company has clarified that deliveries are scheduled to begin in May 2026. The ex-showroom price of this bike has been set at ₹33.50 lakh.
In terms of design, this bike possesses the power to grab anyone's attention. Its aesthetic is heavily inspired by BMW's renowned RR superbikes. The front features a new dual-flow LED headlight setup, lending the bike an incredibly aggressive face. A standout feature is the inclusion of 'M Winglets.' These generate up to 11 kg of additional pressure (downforce) on the front wheel at speeds of just 220 km/h, ensuring the bike stays firmly planted to the road and remains stable even at high speeds.
Speaking of performance, the bike is equipped with a 999cc water-cooled, inline four-cylinder engine. This unit has been specifically tuned for track use. The engine generates a formidable 210 bhp of power at 13,750 rpm and 113 Nm of torque. The bike's blistering pace can be gauged from the fact that it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds. It boasts a top speed of 280 km/h. The bike also utilizes BMW's 'ShiftCam' technology, which ensures excellent torque delivery at low speeds and spectacular performance at high speeds.
BMW has left no stone unturned on the features front either. It features a 6.5-inch TFT display, complete with a distinctive 'M startup' animation. For the safety of riders, it offers multiple riding modes such as Rain, Road, Dynamic, and Race. Additionally, advanced features like adaptive LED lighting, cruise control, heated grips, and—for track enthusiasts—a pit-lane limiter are also included. This bike serves as a perfect package for those who seek the thrill of the race track alongside the practicality of daily road riding.
