What did Xi Jinping warn Trump about?

During the meeting in Beijing on Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the Taiwan issue was the most important matter in US-China relations and warned that the two countries could come into conflict if it was not handled properly, according to reports.

"The Taiwan question is the most important issue in China-US relations. If mishandled, the two nations could collide or even come into conflict, pushing the entire China-US relationship into a highly perilous situation," he said.

What did Trump and Jinping say?

Xi Jinping and Donald Trump gave opening remarks before their bilateral meeting while sitting inside the Great Hall of the People. 

Xi told Trump and the US that we should be 'partners not rivals', and should achieve success for each other. Trump told Xi Jinping that the two superpowers would have a "glorious future" together. Trump said, "It is an honour to meet you. It is an honour to be your friend, and relations between China and the US are going to be better than ever."

This grand event comes at a time of deep tensions between the world's two largest economies. The two leaders will also attend a State Banquet in the same hall in the evening. Trump will also visit the historic "Temple of Heaven," a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Chinese emperors once prayed for a good harvest.

When did Trump land?

Trump, who landed in China on Wednesday, was given a grand welcome in Beijing with a red carpet and a state banquet at the Great Hall of the People.

Trump's visit will discuss several major issues between the two countries, including the trade war, the Taiwan dispute, Iran tensions, the AI ​​battle, and billion-dollar deals. Despite the outward appearance of a warm welcome and friendship, deep tensions remain in the US-China relationship. The entire world is now focused on this high-voltage meeting.

The US President was accompanied by several prominent business leaders, including Jensen Huang and Elon Musk. These are seen as symbols of the trade agreements Trump hopes to reach.
