Tehran: Differences between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz are deepening, having a profound impact on global trade. Now, Iran has warned it will block trade through the Persian Gulf, Sea of Oman, and Red Sea if the US maintains its naval blockade on Iranian ports and called the move a prelude to violating the ceasefire.

What is the reason?

The US considers the Strait Of Hormuz a fully international waterway, while Iran claims it as part of its territorial waters. Consequently, the US is calling Iran's collection of tolls from ships illegal. Meanwhile, Iran is calling US President Donald Trump's blockade of the Strait a "serious violation" of its sovereignty. Meanwhile, Iran has once again issued a direct warning to the US. It has stated that if the US blockade continues, it will disrupt the movement of commercial ships in the Red Sea, the Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman.

The US said the blockade aims to pressure Iran into compliance, already disrupting global shipping and energy flows through critical chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz.

What did Iran warn?

Iran said that it will disrupt the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Red Sea if the United States does not lift its blockade on Iranian ports.

Iranian senior military officer, Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi, said in a statement,  "Iran will act with strength to defend its national sovereignty and its interests."

He said that the US blockade is "a prelude to violating the ceasefire."

He also said Iran would take "decisive steps to protect its national sovereignty and interests."

What did Iranian President say?

Earlier, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday condemned what he called external pressure and military aggression against Iran.

Pezeshkian stressed that Iran is committed to constructive dialogue but will not bow to pressure. Any attempt by the US to impose its will or force Iran to surrender is doomed to failure, and the public will never accept such an approach. Iran does not want war.
