Pakistan army chief Asim Munir in Iran for peace talks (X)
Tehran: Pakistan is once again playing the role of mediator in efforts to renew peace talks between the US and Iran. In this regard, Pakistan's Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday, where he met with senior officials, including Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. He was accompanied by Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
As part of mediation efforts, a Pakistani delegation, which is led by Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, arrived in Tehran on Wednesday. Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also accompanied him for the talks.
The delegation was received by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and said that he was "very pleased" to welcome the Pakistan army chief to Iran.
Asim Munir's visit comes at a time when talks between the US and Iran in Islamabad have failed. Pakistan is trying to revive dialogue between the two countries. Munir's visit is considered important for reducing differences between the US and Iran and moving the talks forward.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi welcomed Munir's visit and praised Pakistan's role. He said that Pakistan's hosting of the talks reflects the strong relations between the two countries.
Iran has also confirmed that messages continue to be exchanged with the US through Pakistan.
