International News: Taliban’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi is on an official visit to India, where diplomatic discussions are underway. However, his visit coincided with a major escalation Pakistan launched airstrikes inside Afghanistan, breaching its sovereignty and sparking sharp condemnation. Speaking firmly from Indian soil, Muttaqi issued a strong warning to Pakistan, urging it to stop meddling in Afghanistan’s internal affairs and avoid further provocation that could destabilize the region.
On his first official visit to India as Afghanistan’s top diplomat, Muttaqi gave a strong message to Pakistan from New Delhi. He said Pakistan should talk to Britain and America before provoking Afghanistan. Muttaqi stated, “If you try to provoke us, go ask the British first. Ask the Americans too they might tell you that playing such games with Afghanistan is not right. We want to solve things through diplomacy.”
Pakistan often accuses Afghanistan of giving shelter to terrorists, while the Taliban has also made similar accusations against Pakistan. When the Taliban came to power in 2021 after the withdrawal of U.S. forces, Pakistan celebrated. However, over time, relations between the two countries have grown tense.
Even while criticizing Pakistan, Muttaqi maintained a positive attitude toward India. He said Afghanistan and India have shared ties since ancient times. Muttaqi also assured that Afghan soil would never be used against India. Speaking to the media, he emphasized the importance of peaceful and friendly relations between the two nations.
Earlier, Muttaqi met India’s Foreign Minister, S. Jaishankar. Both discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and development cooperation. After the meeting, Jaishankar announced that India would upgrade its technical mission in Kabul to a full embassy. He said, “India fully supports Afghanistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence. I am pleased to announce that our mission in Kabul will now function as the Indian Embassy.” Both ministers also agreed on a comprehensive development and humanitarian aid package. This includes six new projects, 20 ambulances, MRI and CT scan machines for Afghan hospitals, as well as vaccines and cancer medicines.
