Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya posted on X that the Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAS) facility in Kahramankazan, Ankara, was hit by a terror attack, resulting in casualties and injuries.

Explosion and gunfire caught on video

Footage circulating on social media shows the chaos that unfolded at the TAI headquarters. Explosions rocked the facility, followed by the sound of gunfire, as panic spread across the area. Additional video footage from the scene reveals a gunman actively targeting the facility, raising concerns about the security of one of Turkey's largest defense companies.

Gunman targets Turkey’s key defense hub

In a more detailed account, it appears that the attacker deliberately targeted TAI, a crucial player in Turkey’s defense industry. The attack underscores the ongoing threats faced by critical infrastructure in the country and raises questions about security measures surrounding such vital installations.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, and further details regarding the extent of the damage and the number of casualties are expected to emerge.

Attack occured when President Erdogan is at Russia's BRICS Summit

Originally established in 1973 under Turkey's Ministry of Industry and Technology, TUSAS aimed to lessen Turkey's reliance on foreign technology in its defense sector, as stated on their official site. The Mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavas, expressed his grief over the incident at TUSAS, which plays a significant role in the defense sector.

This violent incident took place as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was attending the yearly BRICS gathering in Kazan, Russia.
