Hyderabad: After a bomb threat email, a security alert was triggered at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad on Friday regarding a Lufthansa flight that was arriving from Frankfurt, Germany, according to the officials.

What was there in the email?

According to the airport sources, the customer support of the airline had received an email claiming that an explosive device had been placed on flight LH-754 and that it would be detonated before the aircraft reached Shamshabad.

The email was taken seriously by airline members and airport authorities, prompting an immediate landing at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, where security teams could check.

What did the police say?

Following its arrival, the aircraft was directed to an isolation bay for a detailed security inspection.

The passengers were evacuated on landing and the aircraft was thoroughly inspected by the security agencies.

Bomb disposal teams and airport security personnel began a thorough search of the aircraft. Officials said further investigations were underway and no immediate threat had been confirmed.

Police and security teams in Hyderabad are examining the email to find its origin and to check if any credible threat exists.

The official said that each passenger is being individually screened as part of the protocol.

What about other cases?

In a separate development, two flights arriving at Shamshabad Airport were diverted due to poor weather conditions caused by strong winds. A flight from Pune was diverted to Vijayawada, while an Emirates flight from Dubai was diverted to Bengaluru.

Sources said both flights attempted to land at Shamshabad twice but were unable to do so due to strong winds. As a precaution, air traffic officials directed the aircraft to alternate airports. Airport officials said operations were being closely monitored, and both security and weather-related disruptions were being handled as per standard procedures.
