IMD Weather Update: South-West Monsoon Brings Relief to South India; Heatwaves Persist in the North (Pinterest)
As South-Western monsoon reached to the coast of Kerala, Indian metereological Department (IMD) announced in a recent press release that the weather will be cheerful on June 1st. North-Western regions lie Rajasthan, Gujarat may still face hotness and scorching wind.
Southern states like Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, having the possibility of cloudy weather and overcast sky, along with thunderstorn and mid to heavy rainfall. Konkan region may also feel intermittent rain, so that the temperature may get down.
Weather activities are most likely to remain highly active in the states like Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mijoram, Sikkim and Tripura. Risks of having landslides in hilly areas were also announced. Weather likely to be humid because of the winds coming from Bay of Bengal. Waterlogging may also occur in low-lying areas.
West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand and Bihar likely to remain cloudy. Northern District of West Bengal, and the region of Sikkim may face heavy rainfall. There's also possbility of heavy thunderstorm in the Bihar and Jharkhand region.
The weather is expected to be mixed in the northern Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand. Hot winds and high temperatures are likely in western Rajasthan and some parts of Haryana-Punjab. Cloudy skies and light rain are likely in some areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Hot and humid weather is expected in Delhi-NCR with partly cloudy skies. Light rain and thunderstorms are possible in the mountainous regions of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
Central India will see weather changes soon. Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Eastern parts of Maharashtra, and Gujarat are all in the mix. Vidarbha and Marathwada can expect thunderstorms. Some parts of Madhya Pradesh will also get showers. Gujarat's pre-monsoon activity isn't slowing down either. Skies there will stay unsettled for a while. Temperatures across most of India will stay above normal in early June. That said, the south and east will get some rainfall. After weeks of brutal heat, that's a welcome sign.
