New Delhi: There has been a significant increase in prices for LPG cylinders from Saturday, March 7, 2026. Common people who use gas in their kitchen daily will now have to pay Rs 60 more. The price of  14.2 kg domestic cylinder has increased by the same amount. Besides, the cost of 19 kg commercial cylinder for hotels and restaurants has also increased by Rs 115.

What are the new prices of domestic cylinders?

A 14.2 kg cylinder, which was earlier available for Rs 853 in Delhi, now costs Rs 913, a direct shock of Rs 60. Earlier it was Rs 852.50 in Mumbai, now it will cost Rs 912.50. In Chennai the difference was even bigger – it increased from Rs 868.50 to Rs 928.50. Talking about Kolkata, the same increase of Rs 60 has been seen there also. These new rates have come into effect from this morning itself.

The last time the price changed was in April 2025, there has been no change since then. This increase has come after almost a year, which will be felt in every household. Especially for middle-class families, where the budget is already tight, this may not be looking good.

What was the impact on commercial cylinders?

The price of 19 kg commercial cylinder has increased by Rs 115, which will directly impact the business. Earlier in Delhi it was Rs 1768.50, now it has become Rs 1883. It rose from Rs 1720.50 to Rs 1835 in Mumbai, Rs 1875.50 to Rs 1990 in Kolkata and Rs 1929 to Rs 2043.50 in Chennai.

This is a big shock for hotels, dhabas, small restaurants, caterers, everyone. Due to an increase in gas prices, the prices of food items may also go up. The common man may have to spend more on eating out. Small traders are already troubled, this will create more problems for them.

Why was there such a big increase?

Sources say that the prices of crude oil and gas have increased in the global market, especially due to tension in West Asia. When LPG prices went up at the international level, companies had to adjust at the domestic level as well. There is subsidy on domestic cylinders, but still there has been such an increase. There is no relief on commercial, the entire burden is directly on the business.

Overall, this increase will have a direct impact on the pocket of the common man. Lighting the stove at home has become expensive, and so has eating outside. Hopefully there will be some relief in the coming days, otherwise this trend of inflation is not going to stop.
