Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh: A fire broke out in B-1 coach of the Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express on Sunday morning. All 68 passengers in the coach were immediately evacuated to safety by the guards and railway staff. No one was injured in the accident.

Where and when did the accident happen?

The train was passing between Luni Richha and Vikramgarh Alot. At around 5:30 in the morning, the guard noticed smoke rising from the B-1 coach. Saw that flames were coming out. The guard did not waste even a second. Stopped the train by shouting directly to the driver on the wireless. Saved 68 lives by risking their lives.

How were the lives of 68 passengers saved?

As soon as the train stopped, RPF personnel and TTE started running. Smoke was filled inside the coach. People were shouting in fear. The staff opened the gates and pulled out all 68 passengers one by one. Took the children in his lap, held the hands of the elderly and brought them down. The entire compartment was empty within five minutes. This is how a major disaster was prevented

How was the fire controlled?

To prevent the fire from reaching other coaches, the team from Kota cut the burning B-1 coach and separated it from the train. After this the fire was extinguished by pouring water. If the coaches had not been separated, the entire train would have been hit. All safe, investigation started. It is a matter of relief that no one got even scratched in this entire accident. All the passengers were scared but were safe. He was sent ahead in another coach. Railway officials believe that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit, but the real reason will be known only after investigation. 

Was the Delhi-Mumbai route affected for 2 hours?

Due to this incident, trains on the Delhi-Mumbai route stood still for about two hours. The trains got the green signal only after the track was cleared and safety check was done. Due to the wisdom of the guards and railway staff, the lamps of 68 houses were saved from being extinguished today.
